Community Herbalist, Acu Detox Specialist, Monarda Founder

Rich is a queer Community Herbalist and Acupuncture Detox Specialist who’s work is centered in social justice, harm reduction and access to care. He was a regular volunteer at New York Harm Reduction Educators (NYHRE) in Harlem, NYC where he was certified in NADA. He started Monarda as a sliding scale apothecary via google doc in 2020 and has since hosted dozens of free clinics in and around the Hudson Valley, offering free NADA acupuncture treatments and herbal medicine.

Influential teachers and mentors that have shaped his relationship to holistic care include: Mandana Boushee, Lauren Giambrone, Jen Stovall, Janet Kent, Dave Meesters, Juan Cortez and Masha Schmidt.

Rich’s background is in organic farming, herbal medicine production, harm reduction and work contributing to a collective vision of holistic healthcare. He is currently based on Mahican Land in Hudson,NY.

Nadine is a first generation daughter of two immigrants of Cape Verdean and Portuguese descent. After almost a decade of herbal work she started Poppy & Star herbs in 2019. Her formulas spotlight collective healing, harm reduction and health justice. Poppy & Star illustrates and personifies the thaumaturgy of plants by means of folk herbalism and artistry.

Nadine was certified in NADA after completing an internship at NYHRE in Harlem, NYC in 2021 working alongside Juan Cortez and Masha Schmidt.
